A voice is heard
\nRachel weeping for her children
\nand refusing comfort<\/p>\n
And let it not be said that all is well
\nLet no confident voice deny
\nLet no silken words suggest
\nThat we aren’t all under the old curse
\nThat we don’t stand, Undone
\nKnowledge-fruit-juice red upon our lips
\nAnd eyes opened upon the yawning terror.<\/p>\n

But do let us also stand at Calvary
\nLet the desolate cry resound
\nand crush our ears
\nMy God.\u00a0 My God!\u00a0 Why?<\/p>\n
And let us linger on Saturday, as we know we must
\nDismayed
\nDispelled
\nDissipated
\nThere is no time
\nThere is no space
\nNo love
\nNo life
\nNo tears
\nIn the void, itself devoid of voidness
\nBut somehow time passes, as we know it must.<\/p>\n
And let us come at length
\nIn the dawn
\nIn the time between times
\nAs light lies pent up
\nAnd darkness gathers hastily for flight
\nAnd bursting forth with sudden rush
\nThe Sun of Righteousness is born upon the world<\/p>\n
And the age turns.<\/p>\n
But let us always also stand
\nIn the room
\nWhere hands are proffered
\nAnd eternal scars laid bare
\nAnd a voice says
\n“This is how much it hurts to love”<\/p>\n
